Welcoming Baby Beckett | Newborn Photographer in Michigan City, Indiana

There’s something extra special about first-time parents — figuring it all out together, learning the new member of your household, the quiet awe, and the tenderness through every moment. I got to witness all of that and more during Baby Beckett’s newborn session here in my cozy Northwest Indiana studio.

Beckett’s parents, Jason and Tori, found me through Facebook while searching for a local newborn photographer. They were set out to find someone with great reviews and definitely valued the amount of experience I bring to the table. It’s always an honor when families trust me with their baby and such a huge milestone together as a family. Especially when they’re stepping into parenthood for the very first time.

Their sweet baby boy was an absolute dream to photograph. With his fuzzy hair and pouty lips, I was OBSESSED. He settled right into posing like a natural model. I chose setups that matched the clean, timeless aesthetic of his nursery. His parents requested something neutral and simple (nothing bright or flashy) and I was happy to oblige.

One of my favorite parts of the session was when we incorporated a little personal touch from dad’s career. Jason is a fireman captain here for Michigan City, and it meant so much to include his helmet and gear in a few of Beckett’s portraits. Since dad’s career deals with harsh chemicals and soot, we opted to edit Beckett into dad’s helmet to keep his delicate skin free from any irritants that could be lingering on the gear or uniform. Safety is always my priority! It’s always such a joy when we can bring in meaningful details that tell a piece of your family’s story — those little touches make your photos uniquely yours.

As a newborn photographer, I love working with families in these early, often blurry, days. There’s a quiet strength in bringing home a new baby. In these first weeks we are just navigating parenthood one hour at a time — and doing so with so much love and intention.
